Turkmenistan and the European Investment Bank (EIB) held online talks Sept. 3 on a Framework Agreement aimed at developing cooperation between the sides, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan reported.

Representatives of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Finance and Economy, Central Bank, Ministry of Justice and Supreme Court, along with representatives of the EIB’s Regional Representation for Central Asia in Tashkent and headquarters and the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan, attended the talks.

During the meeting, the sides continued dialogue and work to develop cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EIB.

Earlier, Olivier Kuehne, Head of the EIB’s Regional Representation for Central Asia, reported in an interview with Trend that concluding a Framework Agreement with Turkmenistan is one of the key conditions for the bank to begin active operations in the country.

The European Investment Bank, established in Luxembourg in 1958, is the European Union’s main public lending institution. The bank finances development-oriented projects in infrastructure, environmental protection, energy and digitalization.
