Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan invited Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to attend the Leaders’ Summit to be held in Yerevan in October ahead of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), during a phone conversation between the two leaders, Turkmen state media reported Friday.
During the conversation, Pashinyan noted that Armenia highly values Turkmenistan’s achievements and attaches great importance to further developing cooperation based on friendship and equality. He also conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan’s international initiatives aimed at ensuring global environmental well-being. Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked him for the invitation, noting that the event would be an important milestone in efforts to protect the environment, and confirmed that Turkmenistan would actively participate in it.
During the phone conversation, the sides also exchanged views on issues on the agenda of Turkmen-Armenian relations. They also emphasized the importance of further developing bilateral cooperation in various areas.
