A Turkmen delegation is participating in the “Cooperation in the Higher Education System of the Turkic World” certificate program being held in Ankara, Türkiye, from Sept. 7-11, and is learning about opportunities to further expand international cooperation in higher education, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan reported Tuesday.
Representatives from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Hungary are participating in the certificate program. Turkmenistan is represented by officials from the Ministry of Education, Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Dovletmammed Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the International University for the Humanities and Development.
Abdulhadi Turus, head of Türkiye’s Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), as well as the ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the participating countries accredited in Ankara attended the program’s official opening ceremony on Sept. 7.
During the opening ceremony, participants were introduced to the main areas of work of YTB, the objectives of the program and opportunities to expand international cooperation in higher education. Information was also provided on joint scholarship programs, academic exchanges and opportunities to develop cooperation among higher education institutions.
On the first day of the program, dedicated to the “Higher Education Policies and Strategies in Türkiye and the World” module, participants discussed the structure and development trends of Türkiye’s higher education system, major trends in global higher education, the role of higher education institutions in shaping cultural influence and international standing, as well as issues related to developing humanitarian relations.
