Turkmen President Meets With South Korean Prime Minister

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with South Korean Prime Minister Han Seong-sook during his state visit to South Korea, Turkmen state media reported Tuesday.

The sides discussed prospects for further developing Turkmen-South Korean cooperation, with particular attention to strengthening economic, technological and innovation partnerships.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding relations with South Korea and views the current state visit as an important stage in developing bilateral cooperation.

The President stressed that Turkmenistan regards South Korea not only as a reliable economic partner but also as an important technological and innovation partner.

During the meeting, the Turkmen President invited Prime Minister Han Seong-sook to visit Turkmenistan at a convenient time.

As part of the state visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov also met with National Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik. The sides discussed the development of interparliamentary cooperation and noted the role of parliamentary contacts in strengthening bilateral relations.

A high-level Turkmen-South Korean business forum was also held as part of the Turkmen President’s state visit to South Korea. The forum focused on prospects for developing trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
