A cooperation memorandum covering several areas was signed between Turkmen private company Mert Ýigit and South Korean company ONU H&C Co., Ltd. The document was signed Sept. 15 during a ceremony at The Grand Lotte Hotel in Seoul, a representative of Mert Ýigit told Business Turkmenistan.
The memorandum signed by Mert Ýigit and ONU H&C Co., Ltd. provides for cooperation in the oil and gas and gas chemical industries, communications, artificial intelligence, rail and road transport, energy, health care and construction.
A Turkmen-Korean business forum was held as part of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s state visit to the Republic of Korea on Sept. 14-16. The forum discussed opportunities to develop trade, economic and investment cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, as well as areas of cooperation in various sectors. The event also enabled representatives of Turkmenistan’s private sector, including Mert Ýigit, to establish business contacts with South Korean companies, present their areas of activity and discuss new cooperation opportunities.
In recent years, opportunities have expanded in Turkmenistan to strengthen the role of the private sector in the economy and develop entrepreneurs’ ties with foreign partners. Work in this area continues through the initiatives of National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the efforts of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The signing of the cooperation memorandum between Mert Ýigit and the South Korean company is one practical result of these opportunities.
Mert Ýigit, based in Ashgabat and headed by Begench Atabayev, operates in the construction sector. Along with implementing construction projects, the company focuses on developing its industry expertise and establishing long-term relationships with business partners. Meetings with South Korean business groups have also provided an important opportunity to promote the company’s activities internationally.
