National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, who arrived in Turkmenistan to attend celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, Turkmen state media reported Monday.
Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s state independence. He also conveyed warm greetings and congratulations from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the congratulations and conveyed his best wishes to Russia’s leadership. National Leader noted that the participation of the Head of Tatarstan in the celebrations was a clear expression of the friendly and effective cooperation between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
The meeting noted the consistent and effective development of bilateral relations. It was also emphasized that high-level meetings and talks provide an opportunity to identify promising areas of cooperation.
Relations between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan are developing within the framework of interstate cooperation with the Russian Federation. The Turkmen-Tatar working group on trade and economic, scientific and technical, and cultural cooperation plays an important role in this area.
At the end of the meeting, the sides exchanged best wishes and wished prosperity, well-being and success to the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan.
