National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended a ceremonial horse race held as part of the opening ceremony of the Ahal-Teke horse complex of the President of Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan’s official media reported on Tuesday.
Skilled riders from all the regions, as well as the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, took part in the race. During the event, it was noted that the horse named Daghan, representing the city of Arkadag, had been trained by young horse trainer Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov and that its rider was Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As a result of the ceremonial horse race, the horse Daghan, ridden by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, took first place, the horse Şohratly, ridden by T. Pirmyradov of Ashgabat, took second place, while the horse Azamat, ridden by H. Ashyrow of Ahal province, took third place.
T. Pirmyradow, who took second place in the race, was awarded a Toyota Fortuner, while H. Ashyrov, who took third place, was given a Toyota Camry. The grand prize — a Range Rover Sport — was gifted, by decision of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and together with the honorary gift, to the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan, namely to the military unit where Sgt. Kerimguly Berdimuhamedov serves.
The ceremonial horse race was held as part of events at the 1,200-seat the Ahal-Teke horse complex of the President of Turkmenistan, which opened on Sept. 29 to mark the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.
