Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Oct. 8 in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. Putin arrived in Turkmenistan to attend a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Caspian Environmental Summit. The two sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reported.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the Russian Leader for accepting the invitation to participate in the international events and noted the importance of the meetings in Avaza for discussing regional cooperation and identifying new areas of interaction.
Vladimir Putin thanked the Turkmen side for its hospitality and invitation and conveyed greetings to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen People.
During the meeting, the sides focused on political and diplomatic contacts, trade and economic ties, and cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields, including education, health care, science and culture.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further develop comprehensive cooperation with Russia and expressed confidence in the continued development of bilateral relations.
At the end of the meeting, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Vladimir Putin wished each other good health and success in their state activities, and the peoples of Turkmenistan and Russia happiness and prosperity.
