President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to assist Turkmenistan in promoting liquefied natural gas (LNG), Tatar-inform cited the official representative of the Kazan Kremlin Liliya Galimova as saying at a press conference.
“An instruction was given to develop a pilot project to promote LNG as a motor fuel in one of the administrative centers of Turkmenistan, in which our industrial enterprises could be involved,” said Galimova at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as the industrial companies of Tatarstan, were instructed to submit the relevant proposals to boost cooperation with Turkmenistan in this direction, taking into account the preferences expressed by the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
“We are one of the regions participating in Russia’s pilot program for switching to LNG. We have companies that convert machines to LNG powered ones. It is necessary to make sure that the experience we have gained can be used there. Since Turkmenistan is a gas-rich country and there are a lot of resources, they have an interest in this project,” Galimova added.
Recently, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan personally introduced the enterprises of the Republic to the participants of the First Caspian Economic Forum hosted in Turkmenistan’s Avaza National Tourist Zone last week.
