Turkmenistan will establish an International Information Center to facilitate the advancement of local media.
At the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov noted the relevance of creating the center in the context of active implementation of modern information and communication technologies, and Internet resources in the media.
The minister then reported on the adoption of measures to strengthen the juridical base of cooperation between domestic and foreign media. He noted that the active work to intensify information exchanges and to establish contacts with the media of the region is underway.
During the Government meeting, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the steps taken in this direction should contribute to the active introduction of the latest multimedia technologies to the Turkmen media, as well as to familiarizing the world with the key vectors of domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the foreign minister also said that the work is underway to increase the number of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan.
