Turkmenistan’s GDP Grows 6,3 Percent
Growth was also ensured in the private sector of the economy, the share of which in the structure of GDP amounted to 65.7 percent.

The growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) of Turkmenistan in January-September 2019 was 6,3 percent. According to the results of the analysis of indicators for the country’s ministries and departments, the volume of production for January-September, compared to the same period in 2018, increased by 6,9 percent.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Myradov made the remarks during his briefing at the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday.

According to the results of nine months, growth was also ensured in the private sector of the economy, the share of which in the structure of GDP amounted to 65,7 percent. The volume of retail trade turnover for the reporting period, compared with the same period last year, increased by 19,1 percent. Foreign trade also showed positive dynamics as it increased by 2,8 percent.

Since the beginning of the year, construction of industrial and socio-cultural facilities has been progressing in all regions of the country. The volume of utilized investments from all sources of financing reached 27,3 billion manats.

During the reported period, out of 242 objects planned for construction and reconstruction, 9 are completed, 107 are underway, and the rest are in preparatory stage.

The Deputy Chairman also reported on practical steps taken to improve the banking sector, in particular, on the introduction of a digital system, expanding the range of cashless payments, and increasing the services provided through payment cards.
