Iran exported more than 606,000 tons of commodities to Central Asian countries via railroad from the Sarakhs Border Terminal in the northeastern Khorasan Razavi Province during the March-September this year, Iran’s Financial Tribune reports citing Director General of Khorasan Razavi Railroad Organization Mostafa Nassiri.

Iran’s exports via the border terminal showed a 90% surge compared with the corresponding period of last year.

According to Director General, the main export destination was Uzbekistan, as it accounts for around 80% of total exports headed to this direction. “Other main destinations were Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan,” the Iranian official was cited as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

“With 533,000 tons, Khorasan Razavi Province ranked first among the country’s 31 provinces in exports via railroad during the six-month period,” Nassiri added.

At the September meeting between Turkmen officials and newly appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mary city Rasoul Jafari at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, parties noted that Turkmenistan’s Mary velayat and Iran’s Razavi Khorasan province cooperate effectively in trade-economic sphere.
