Farmers of Dashoguz velayat plan to harvest 35 thousand tons of rice from 8,1 thousand hectares of farm land this year.
As in the past year, the farmers gave preference to farm high-yielding and disease-resistant rice varieties Nukus-2, Munbashi and Alenga, which have adapted to local soil and climatic conditions.
To maintain a high rate of harvest, about 200 high-performance combine harvesters, as well as about 400 units of specialized machines and equipment, were involved in harvesting and transporting rice grain.
The main producers of this food crop in the northern region are specialized farms of the Saparmyrat Turkmenbashi etrap, which have accumulated a rich experience in cultivating elite rice varieties. Farm enterprises of the nearby S.A. Niyazov etrap also intend to harvest 25,5 thousand tons of rice this year.
A modern high-tech rice-cleaning enterprise with a capacity of 30 thousand tons of grain per year operates on the territory of the etrap, which also provides farms with high-quality seeds for cultivation.
