Turkmenistan, Italy Hold High Level Talks in Rome
Quirinal Palace’s Arazzi di Lilla room hosted a high level talks in wide format.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella and Prime-Minister of the Republic of Italy Giuseppe Conte on Thursday.

The Turkmen Leader held talks with Giuseppe Conte at Palazzo Chigi, the official residence of Italy's prime minister.

The Prime Minister of Italy expressed confidence that the talks in Rome would contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation and specifying its priorities.

In turn, the Turkmen President noted that in its foreign policy, Turkmenistan pays special attention to developing cooperation with the countries of the European Union, and in particular, with the Republic of Italy.

The parties discussed the issues of the Turkmen-Italian cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, specifying its priority areas. Along with this, the sides called for developing relations in the spheres of education, science and culture.

The parties also exchanged views on a number of important issues of the regional and international agenda.

Following the result of the meeting, Turkmen and Italian sides held the ceremony of signing a comprehensive package of bilateral documents.

The signed bilateral documents include Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Italian Republic on air traffic; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health and the Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Health of the Italian Republic on Cooperation in the Field of Health and Medicine; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Environment, Land and Sea Protection of the Italian Republic on cooperation in the field of risk assessment, adaptation and mitigation of climate change; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Education, University and Research of the Italian Republic on cooperation in the field of education.

President of Turkmenistan then held talks in wide format with the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella at Quirinal Palace’s Arazzi di Lilla room.

During the talks, the parties noted with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between the two countries in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov voiced a proposal to hold an exhibition of Parthian artifacts in Italy. The Turkmen Leader then invited his Italian counterpart to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.
