The Subregional Seminar on teaching the intellectual property with the aim of exchanging the international and domestic experience in the area of intellectual property training took place at the Ashgabat’s Archabil hotel on Thursday.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the event was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in collaboration with the State Service on Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan organized.
The heads and representatives of the State Service on Intellectual Property of Turkmenistan, the main and regional offices of the WIPO, international experts in the field of intellectual property, representatives of the state organizations, local and foreign institutes of higher education, as well as the scientific-research centers attended the seminar.
During the seminar, the participants were acquainted with the information on the activities on raising the potential and rendering the services of the WIPO in the region, the functions of the WIPO Academy in the area of teaching intellectual property, including the necessity of embedding this specialization in the programmes of the higher educational institutions.
The speakers underlined the importance of collaboration between the state and private sectors, the necessity of enhancing the qualifications of the specialists in the area of intellectual property with the involvement of information-communication and educational technologies. The specialists presented their proposals in the sphere of preparing relevant study programs and materials.
Intellectual property law is based on the Constitution of Turkmenistan and regulated by the legislation of Turkmenistan, mainly in accordance with the section of the Civil Code of Turkmenistan.
