Turkmenistan this year became one of the top ten foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan, according to the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.
The total trade turnover between the two neighboring countries during the first 11 months of 2019 increased by 90% compared to the same period last year and amounted to $457.8 million.
Turkmenistan exported goods and products worth $374.1 million to Uzbekistan during the corresponding period, and imported $83.7 million from the country.
The total trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $274 million in 2018 and $159 million in 2017.
Turkmenistan mainly buys mineral fertilizers, vegetables, transport, building materials, and electrical equipment from Uzbekistan, and exports petroleum products, polymers, and cotton yarn to the neighboring country.
Turkmenistan started exporting electricity to Uzbekistan in December. The discussions of the project to create an Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Oman transport corridor are currently underway.
