Turkmenistan has approved the procedure for the placement of crops, production, and cultivation of cotton and limits of water use.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant resolutions during a video conference working session on Monday with the participation of the hyakims (governors) of the velayats and the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Esenmyrat Orazgeldyev.
The resolutions include instructions for growing crops in Turkmenistan by type, particularly, increasing cotton harvest, providing cotton seeds, fertilizers and water resources.
The area allocated for cotton in Turkmenistan has been increased this year. According to the new production target, it is expected to collect 1.25 million tons of cotton. The figure is 190 thousand tons higher compared to the 2019 harvest.
Currently, the farmers are carrying out the preparation of agricultural machinery, which will be used in the sowing period.
