GS1 Turkmenistan Attends Global Forum in Brussels
The global annual event is held with the aim of coordinating organization’s strategy, bringing innovation and strengthening the GS1 staff around the world.

GS1 Global Forum took place in the capital of Belgium, Brussels on February 17-20. The Chairperson of the GS1 branch in Turkmenistan Aykamar Malikguliyeva also attended the forum.

The global annual event is held with the aim of coordinating organization’s strategy, bringing innovation and strengthening the GS1 staff around the world.

The agenda of the forum included plenary and regional sessions, meetings of representatives of the GS1’s Global Office divisions and national organizations, meetings of working groups and training seminars, as well as speeches of users of the GS1 system - representatives of major international companies.

At the sessions and meetings within the framework of the forum, the participants discussed the expansion of digital transformation opportunities and exchanged views on the Global Data Model and its future.

GS1 is a not-for-profit organization that develops and maintains global standards for business communication. GS1 standards are designed to improve the efficiency, safety and visibility of supply chains across physical and digital channels.

GS1’s Turkmenistan branch was established in 2014. In 2015, the organization assigned to Turkmenistan barcodes starting with the national prefix (code) 483.

GS1 currently includes 112 member organizations. GS1 is developing common standards for more than 2 million companies worldwide. 25 industries in 150 countries use GS1 standards. GS1 barcodes are scanned more than five billion times every day.
