The private farmer Dovlet Hojamyradov in Lebap velayat’s Sayat etrap in the northeastern Turkmenistan exported 45 tons of tomatoes to Russia from his first greenhouse harvest.
The first crops in the greenhouse were planted in September last year. The farmer harvests crops in the greenhouse once a week and expects to harvest 250 tons of tomatoes until June.
In addition to tomatoes, Hojamyradov intends to grow test batch of strawberries in the 1.6-hectare greenhouse, for which a special unit is provided.
The greenhouse, equipped with modern machinery, was built by the Ýedi Gün Individual Enterprise and employs 18 workers.
Currently, around 30 private greenhouses operate in Lebap velayat. Until today, the crops have been exported to a number of countries, including Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.
