HMD Global, the sole company building Nokia-branded smartphones, unveiled its new Nokia 5310 feature phone, a new member of its “Nokia Originals” feature phone range.

According to the Finnish company’s Thursday press release, the Nokia 5310 is a revamped version of the classic Nokia 5310 XpressMusic that was announced back in 2007. It comes with the same design as the original handset with Black-Red combination and White-Red combination models and dedicated keys for operating the music player and dual speaker support.

It's a low-cost 2G device (meaning no mobile internet) running on Series 30+ mobile operating system and comes with a 2.4-inch display, 8MB of RAM, 16MB of storage, SD card slot (up to 32GB in size), dual stereo front facing speakers, FM radio, and a 1,200mAh battery which can last a month.

The company said the Nokia 5310 will be released later in March for around $42.

This is the third rebooted retro phone from HMD global, following the 3310 and the 8110.

HMD Global believes that its range of nostalgic “Originals” phone range can appeal to people in developing markets and anyone who craves a digital detox on the weekend or a secondary device while they're travelling, working outside, or attending a music festival.

HMD also announced on Thursday its first 5G phone, the Nokia 8.3 5G, alongside a collection of other midrange and budget handsets that include the Nokia 5.3 and Nokia 1.3.

Nokia mobile brand licensee HMD Global is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, and is largely run by former Nokia executives.
