Customs Code of Turkmenistan: Number of Activities Exempted From Licensing
Under the new changes, a duty-free shop, a customs warehouse, a temporary storage warehouse and a customs broker are exempt from licensing.

The Law “On Amendments and Additions to the Customs Code of Turkmenistan” adopted by the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan entered into force on April 1.

The amendments are related to the provisions of the new version of the Law of Turkmenistan “On Licensing of Certain Types of Activities”.

Under the new changes, activities licensed by the customs authorities, such as those of a duty-free shop, a customs warehouse, a temporary storage warehouse and a customs broker, are exempt from licensing.

According to the document, the term “container” was included under the concept “vehicle” in the clause 28 of part 1 of article 5 of the Customs Code. Previously, the term “container” was used under the concept "multi-turn packaging."

Customs legislation is fully based on accepted international standards. The Customs Code of Turkmenistan is consistent with the requirements of the Kyoto Convention on simplification and harmonization of customs procedures.
