Turkmenistan to Take Additional Measures to Create Food Stocks
President of Turkmenistan said if necessary, additional steps should be taken to create sufficient stocks of essential goods, including food products.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the video conference session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday instructed Vice-Premier Chary Gylyjov to urgently develop measures to support small medium and large enterprises and make appropriate proposals.

Gylyjov, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, briefed the Head of State on the results of work for the first quarter of this year in the trade and textile complex, and business sector, which are under his supervision.

After the briefing, the Turkmen Leader said the stable operation of the trading system is one of the most important tasks today, adding that “the state of affairs in this area should be constantly monitored, and, if necessary, additional steps should be taken to create sufficient stocks of essential goods, including food products.”

The Turkmen Leader noted the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the global economy, instructed to accelerate the growth of domestic production and increase the level of industrial self-sufficiency, and to support and develop small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Head of State then issued a severe reprimand to Vice-Premier Chary Gylyjov for unsatisfactory performance of his duties and weakening control over the activities of the ministries and departments under his supervision. The Head of State instructed the official to resolve the shortcomings as soon as possible.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan noted that additional impetus should be given to state programs on import substitution and increase of volume of exported products.
