The State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted on Wednesday a video conference meeting between the representatives of Turkmenistan and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
During the online meeting, the sides paid particular attention to financing of projects implemented in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies. In this context, the officials noted the significant role of the JBIC, which concluded a number of loan agreements with the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activities of Turkmenistan.
The meeting also addressed a wide range of issues related to cooperation in the oil, gas and chemical industries.
In the field of agriculture and water management, the sides considered the application of advanced technologies and the experience of Japanese partners in preventing the flow of mudflows and their diversion from settlements.
The Japanese side voiced its support for the economic policy of Turkmenistan and confirmed the readiness of its business structures and financial institutions to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
The State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan and JBIC signed an agreement on cooperation in 2013. The JBIC also participated in financing of a project worth around $1.7 billion for the production of gasoline from natural gas in the Ahal velayat.
