Head of WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan Paulina Karwowska

Head of World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Turkmenistan Paulina Karwowska visited quarantine centers in Turkmenabat and Turkmenbashi cities, Ria Novosti reported on Sunday.

The WHO representative said Turkmenistan has taken very serious measures to prevent the virus from entering its territory, and the government and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan are working responsibly in this direction.

“During the visit, we were familiarized with the procedures and measures taken by the Turkmen side aimed at preventing COVID-19 from entering the country,” Karwowska said.

Turkmenistan jointly with the United Nations agencies in April developed draft Country preparedness and response plan (CPRP) on COVID-19. The plan aims to prevent the entry of COVID-19 to the country.

According to World Health Organization’s data, Turkmenistan has no confirmed coronavirus cases.
