Consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in a video conference format were held on Thursday. The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vepa Hajiyev, while the Russian side was led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrey Rudenko.
The meeting participants discussed a number of crucial bilateral issues. The sides paid special attention to strengthening collaboration aimed at countering the impact of the global pandemic.
The parties also exchanged views on cooperation in the framework of the UN, OSCE and many other international organizations. The officials reiterated the adherence of both sides to the search of effective multilateral mechanisms for sustenance of stability, economic growth and security in the region and in the world.
The diplomats stressed the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation and noted that the online meeting of the Co-chairs of the Commission is planned for the coming days.
The parties also confirmed the intensification of cooperation of Turkmenistan with the regions of Russia, particularly in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
