Turkmen, French Diplomats Discuss Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation

Fourth inter-MFA consultations between Turkmenistan and the French Republic took place on Friday in a video conference format.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev, while the delegation of France was headed by the Director of the Department of Continental Europe of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Frederik Mondoloni.

The meeting participants exchanged views on the response measures against Covid-19 pandemic. The sides then discussed priority issues of political-diplomatic and trade-economic cooperation between the two countries.

The diplomats noted the positive cooperation of the two countries within the framework of international organizations, particularly within the UN, EU and OSCE. The French side emphasized the importance of the initiatives of Turkmenistan to maintain peace, security and stability in the region.

The participants noted the importance of regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-French Commission on Economic Cooperation, including intensifications of cooperation between its working groups.

The sides also exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere and particularly discussed the inter-university relations, cooperation in archeology field. The parties then exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the space and water spheres, and in the field of popularization of the French language in Turkmenistan.
