During a working visit to Mary velayat on Wednesday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the activities of the Erkin Gurluşyk Individual Enterprise specializing in apple growing, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports.
The head of the company Toyli Chariyev warmly welcomed the Turkmen President and informed about the activities of the company. The businessman said the company was allotted 640 hectares of land for animal husbandry. Chariyev added that forage crops are grown on 630 hectares and the rest 10 hectares are allocated for the construction of a livestock complex.
The construction of the livestock complex is currently underway. The enterprise contains around 300 highly productive cattle brought from Tatarstan. The businessman said he intends to increase their number to 750 until the end of this year.
In addition, grapes, fruit trees, vegetables and gourds are planted on another 300 hectares of land.
During the Turkmen President’s trip to the orchards, the businessman informed that the main activity of the company is gardening, particularly growing apples. “Trees planted three years ago have only begun to bear fruit now,” Chariyev said.
The head of the company also noted that the local lands were previously saline. After the necessary work was done to develop the land, in 2017 fruit trees were planted.
Chariyev said his company currently employs 55 people. The businessman intends to expand production and increase the staff to 150 employees.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the state will continue to support development of small and medium-sized enterprises and advised the entrepreneur to also grow other types of fruit trees.
Turkmen Leader noted the importance of processing harvested fruits and recommended to produce juices, jams and compotes using surplus crops.
The Head of State also underlined the need to determine nutritional level of vegetables, gourds and fruits grown in the country in modern laboratories, and gave specific instructions to the relevant officials in this regard.
