A humanitarian cargo sent by the World Health Organization (WHO) arrived at the Turkmenabat International Airport, State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reported on Thursday.

The WHO representative accompanying the international cargo noted that today it is more important than ever to intensify humanitarian cooperation between nations, adding that this event became another evidence of the joint confrontation with the danger threatening the health of humankind.

In this regard, it was emphasized that, taking into account the current difficult situation, Turkmenistan not only develops cooperation aimed at consolidating the efforts of the world community in the fight against the pandemic, but also provides concrete assistance to a number of states.

The humanitarian cargo includes 320 thousand medical masks, 130 thousand respirators, over 88 thousand face shields, over 18 thousand glasses and 12 thousand medical gowns.

According to the report, the equipment will be distributed and transferred to medical institutions for their use by specialist in case of need for protection against acute infectious diseases.

Turkmenistan, in collaboration with the UN agencies, is currently developing the Third National Plan, covering the humanitarian component of the country’s measures to combat the coronavirus infection.
