Turkmenistan Intends to Join UNESCO Creative Cities Network
Turkmenistan expressed interest in joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Wednesday held online talks with Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay.

According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry’s statement, the parties noted a high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UNESCO, among the priority areas of which are education, science, information processes, and water resources management. The meeting participants emphasized the commitment of Turkmenistan to the protection of national and global values, promotion of dialogue between countries and peoples on the basis of cultural and humanitarian interaction.

Having considered the results of cooperation over the past years, the officials discussed the possibilities of expanding the legal framework for partnership. The interest of Turkmenistan in joining the significant conventions of the organization in the near future was expressed, according to the Ministry.

The Turkmen side also expressed interest in joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, which is designed to further strengthen the cultural dialogue.
