Turkmenistan Implements Measures to Prevent Spread of Infectious Diseases
Presently, 19 laboratories that meet international standards for the detection of infectious diseases by means of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) function in Turkmenistan.

Since the early days of the global spread of acute pneumonia, Turkmenistan has taken practical measures to counter the threat.

According to the TDH news agency, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Emergency Commission to Combat the Spread of Diseases, Minister of Healthcare and Medical Industry Nurmuhammet Amannepesov.

Particularly, Amannepesov reported on the implementation of comprehensive measures to prevent the entry and spread of infectious diseases in the country and the creation of a control center in the structure of the Ministry of Healthcare and Medical Industry, and a local control center in the city of Turkmenabat.

According to the Minister, quarantine control facilities with 80 beds have been built at Farab, Sarahs and Garabogaz border checkpoints. At nine checkpoints on the State Border, disinfection facilities with disinfecting and fumigation installations have been built for the treatment of vehicles.

Field hospitals were also opened in the cities of Turkmenabat, Turkmenbashi and the village of Garabogaz to monitor the health of citizens arriving from foreign countries, Amannepesov said.

The Minister of Healthcare of Turkmenistan added that helicopters were on duty to provide medical assistance to patients in emergency situations and to deliver samples to the laboratory. In the future, it is planned to purchase medical helicopters from the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation.

The head of the Emergency Commission noted that currently 19 laboratories that meet international standards for the detection of infectious diseases by means of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) function in the capital and velayats of the country. In order to provide the population with pharmaceutical and medical supplies, the country purchased medicines worth $10 million, which were used to prevent this viral infection.

In addition, 240 thousand doses of seasonal influenza vaccines were received, citizens at risk were vaccinated, and this work continues. The country has established the production of masks, protective and disinfectant products, and protective suits for doctors and medical personnel.

Following the report, Turkmen President said the new wave of coronavirus infection in many countries raises concern, and stressed that the Government is closely monitoring the situation and taking all necessary measures.

Thanks to large-scale and purposeful work, a reliable barrier to dangerous infectious diseases has been set up in the country, and the effective measures taken in the field of their prevention significantly reduce the risk of the disease, the President stated.

The Head of State gave specific instructions regarding the organizational work for the procurement of new high-quality vaccines against coronavirus infection, currently produced in various states. The President also instructed to continue the production of protective masks, hygiene and disinfection products and create their reserve stock.
