Turkmenistan to Plant 25 Million Trees, Grape Seedlings
The nationwide planting campaign is scheduled for November 7.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the government meeting on Thursday signed a Resolution regarding the successful implementation of the National Forest Program, TDH news agency reports.

According to the signed document, in addition to 10 million seedlings specified in Decree No. 1617 of the President of Turkmenistan dated January 31, 2020, 15 million more seedlings of deciduous, coniferous and fruit trees and grape seedlings will be planted in the fall of 2020 in the velayats and the city of Ashgabat, including:

  • ministries and sectoral departments, the Ashgabat Hyakimlik (Administration) – 7.5 million seedlings;
  • hyakimliks of velayats – 7.5 million seedlings.

Ministries, sectoral departments, hyakimliks of the velayats and Ashgabat were instructed to ensure planting of seedlings of fruit trees and grapes by varieties on separate land plots, irrigating deciduous, coniferous and fruit trees and grape seedlings by drip irrigation.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection was instructed to provide the ministries, sectoral departments, hyakimliks of the velayats and Ashgabat with sufficient quantities of grape seedlings and three-year tree seedlings, and to monitor their planting and maintenance.

The nationwide planting campaign is scheduled for November 7.
