Turkmenistan Envisages Implementation of Various Large-Scale Projects in Chemical Industry
Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmen Chemicals) State Concern currently operates nine complexes.

Full and efficient use of natural reserves, hydrocarbon resources, mineral and hydro mineral reserves of Turkmen land for the sake of the country is a priority objectives of chemical industry of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Shamuhammet Durdyliyev said in an article published on Turkmenistan Today news outlet last week.

According to the Deputy Prime minister, Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmen Chemicals) State Concern currently operates nine complexes and Dökünhimiýa facility, which provide local consumers including agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers and other chemical production, Garabogazkarbamid Directorate, which controls the construction of specialized facilities, and Technical Secondary Professional School in Turkmenabat.

Products manufactured at the enterprises of the Türkmenhimiýa SC are exported to various countries of the world. As part of the development of the chemical industry, the State Concern in recent years has accomplished number of big projects for production of mineral fertilizers and chemical products.

A nitrogen fertilizer complex in the city of Mary, a facility for the production of concentrated phosphorus fertilizers with an annual capacity of 300 thousand tons at Turkmenabat Chemical Plant, a complex for the production of potash fertilizers with an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons at Garabil potash salt deposit in Lebap velayat will be commissioned as part of the implementation of projects aimed at increasing the level of supply of nitrogen fertilizers to the country's agricultural industry and increasing export potential.

In addition, the construction of second stage of the plant for the annual production of 1.155 million tons of urea is underway in Balkan velayat. Installations with annual production capacity of 250 thousand tons of technical iodine and 2.3 thousand tons of bromine and bromine products will be launched to incease production and technical indicators in the sphere of processing of iodine and bromine waters at   Balkanabat iodine plant in Gumdag village of Balkan velayat.

In addition, it is planned to construct plants with annual capacity of 200 thousand tons of technical iodine and 2 thousand tons of bromine and bromine products in Uzboy village, facilities for annual production of 300 thousand tons of technical iodine and 5.5 thousand tons of bromine and bromine products, complexes for production of caustic soda, chlorine and chlorine products in Hazar city and facilities for production of sodium sulphate on the basis of rich hydro mineral resources of Garabogaz Bay.

The commissioning of the new specialized facilities envisioned in the Program will satisfy the demand of national economy for chemical products and provide opportunity to increase export volumes by several times.

Development of production capacities, which have big importance for diversification of the industry, will allow production of new types of chemical products supplied to domestic and foreign markets. Particularly the annual production of 9.85 thousand tons of bromine and its derivatives, 15 thousand tons of caustic soda, 13.5 thousand tons of chlorine and chlorine products.

Türkmenhimiýa State Concern was established in 2007 with the aim of further developing the chemical industry. In order to implement large-scale projects, Türkmenhimiýa cooperates with the world's leading companies, including Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd., Sojits Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui Engineering and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Rönesans Türkmen and Gap Inşaat.
