Turkmen President, Japanese Ambassador Discuss Promising Areas of Bilateral Cooperation
The Turkmen President and the Japanese diplomat noted the presence of broad prospects for intensifying mutually beneficial ties.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received on Tuesday the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Turkmenistan Yamamoto Hiroyuki, who presented his credentials to the Head of State.

According to the TDH news agency’s report, the Turkmen President and the Japanese diplomat noted with satisfaction the progressive and strategic nature of the interstate partnership.

The sides noted the presence of broad prospects for intensifying mutually beneficial ties, which is directly facilitated by regular contacts and exchanges of delegations at various levels, meetings of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen committees for economic cooperation, joint business forums, as well as cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue.

The large industrial complexes, such as ammonia and urea plant in Mary, a plant for the production of urea fertilizers in Garabogaz, a plant for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in Kiyanly, a plant for the production of environmentally friendly synthetic automobile fuel from natural gas in Ahal velayat, were cited as the prime examples of fruitful cooperation. Also, a new modern gas turbine power plant is currently under construction with the participation of Japanese company in the Charjev etrap of Lebap velayat.

According to the report, Turkmenistan is focused on increasing the volume of trade, strengthening direct business contacts, stimulating investment activity, creating joint ventures aimed at producing high-quality competitive products. Energy sector, petrochemicals, transport and logistics, and a number of other industries where there are great prospects were outlined among the important areas of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation.

In addition, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Japanese diplomat noted the dynamic nature of bilateral ties in the fields of science, education and culture.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Japan to a constructive interstate dialogue, built on the principles of equality, mutual respect and long-term strategic partnership.
