Construction of Kerki Airport in Turkmenistan Nears Completion
The construction of an apron, designed for the simultaneous parking of two large aircraft and four helicopters, is presently underway.

Gündogdy Individual Enterprise has completed the main part of the construction of the airport in the city of Kerki, Lebap velayat.

According to Türkmen gündogary newspaper’s Saturday issue, the company's specialists have already completed the construction of a passenger terminal building with an area of 2,200 square meters. Currently, interior finishing works are underway. The height of the three-storey terminal is 12 meters.

Airport control tower, which is over 31 meters high, sits atop the passenger terminal. The tower is equipped with the latest technology for air traffic control.

In addition, the construction of an apron, designed for the simultaneous parking of two large aircraft and four helicopters, is underway. Construction of ancillary facilities such as a transport depot, a fire station, an emergency building and checkpoints is also ongoing.

The total area of the Kerki airport is 210 hectares. The new airport is expected to be operational in April 2021.

2022
