Turkmenistan to Transform Its Consulates in Afghanistan Into Consulates General
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also approved the cost estimate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2021.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday signed a Resolution on transforming the consulates of Turkmenistan in the cities of Mazar-i-Sharif and Herat in Afghanistan into consulates general from January 1, 2021.

According to the TDH news agency’s report, the documents were signed in order to fulfill Turkmen President’s Resolution "On further improving the work of the consular service of Turkmenistan" dated September 4, 2020.

During the government meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also signed a Resolution approving the cost estimate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as cost estimate for the maintenance of diplomatic missions and consular offices in foreign countries for 2021.

According to the signed documents, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to prepare, together with the Ministry of Justice, proposals on the introduction of amendments and additions to the legislation of Turkmenistan arising from these resolutions within a month and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers.
