President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Monday held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
According to Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet’s report, the Presidents of the two friendly states expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on the state and prospects of interstate cooperation that meets the fundamental interests of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, as well as to discuss a number of areas of international and regional politics.
Taking the opportunity, the Turkmen Leader congratulated his Uzbek counterpart on the successful holding of the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council and stressed the successful chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the structure in 2020.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the outgoing year has passed under the symbol of the 25th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, which served to strengthen the foundations of its independence and role on the political map of the world.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction that, due to the joint efforts, a powerful dynamic of development has been given to the interstate dialogue in recent years, which made it possible to reach new highs.
Reaffirming mutual interest in further strengthening Turkmen-Uzbek ties in the trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural fields, the parties expressed their firm confidence that cooperation based on centuries-old bonds of friendship and good-neighborliness would continue to successfully develop and strengthen for the benefit of the fraternal peoples.
In the end of the telephone conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev exchanged congratulations on the upcoming New Year 2021, addressing the peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan with wishes of peace, wealth, prosperity and big success in all noble endeavors.
