President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Tuesday held an online meeting with the Doyen of the diplomatic corps in Turkmenistan, Russian Ambassador Alexander Blokhin. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov also attended the meeting, TDH news agency reports.
During the meeting, Turkmen President noted Turkmenistan carries out international cooperation and its diplomatic activities in two strategic directions, which are systematic strengthening of bilateral relations with foreign states and active cooperation with international organizations.
The Turkmen Leader emphasized that the internal stability and strength of the political system, as well as the gradual introduction of democratic principles into the life of the state and society, determined the country's reliable position in the international arena and equitable relations with the countries of the world.
Ambassador Blokhin thanked the Head of State on behalf of the diplomatic corps in Turkmenistan for the attentive and respectful attitude to the work of the corps and, expressing New Year's greetings, wished the President of Turkmenistan good health, happiness and prosperity.
The Ambassador stressed that over the past years, the policy of neutrality of Turkmenistan has become an important factor in ensuring regional stability, security and sustainable development, has contributed to the creation of conditions for peaceful dialogue and cooperation of other states.
The Doyen noted the importance of promoting innovative international initiatives put forward by Turkmen President in the fields of energy, transport, ecology, science and health, adding that it is especially symbolic that the new year 2021 has been declared at the initiative of Turkmenistan as the International Year of Peace and Trust.
At the end of the conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sincerely congratulated foreign diplomats on the coming New Year.
