President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Thursday during a meeting with Vagit Alekperov, the head of Russian oil and gas company Lukoil, expressed Turkmen side’s support for the company's intent to participate in the development of the Dostluk field, as well as its readiness to consider specific investment proposals for the implementation of the project.
Turkmen President and Head of the Russian multinational energy company mainly discussed cooperation in the Caspian region, a strategically important center with a huge economic, energy and transport and logistics potential, official Turkmen media reports.
The meeting participants stressed the importance of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Governments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostluk field in the Caspian Sea.
Noting that Lukoil has extensive experience on the shelf of not only the Caspian Sea, but also the Baltic Sea, Vagit Alekperov expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the trust, assuring that the company will make every effort to successfully implement Dostluk project.
The largest Russian non-state enterprise Lukoil was founded in 1991. The company has operations and subsidiaries in more than 30 countries around the world.
