Turkmen, Czech Officials Consider Prospects of Transport Cooperation

Deputy Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic, Vepa Hajiyev and Martin Tlap, during online inter-ministerial consultations on Friday considered the possibilities of cooperation on the establishment of transport and transit corridors connecting Asia and Europe.

The officials also discussed energy security, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan said in a press release.

During discussions on foreign policy priorities of the two countries and cooperation between the foreign ministries, the sides noted the similarity of positions in the establishment of universal peace, stability and sustainable development.

Cooperation within the UN and EU platform was considered in detail, including mutual support for peace initiatives. The meeting participants emphasized the importance of developing the legal framework for cooperation.

The Czech side noted the active role of Turkmenistan in regional and international affairs, including its assistance to advance the peace process in Afghanistan.

The parties expressed their interest in further developing trade and economic relations between the countries, for which there is good potential. The sides additionally considered matters of organizing online meetings between the chambers of commerce and the business circles of the two countries.

The Czech side highly appreciated the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and expressed its readiness to promote the subsequent stages of partnership between Turkmenistan with the international trade body.
