Representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine held a video conference on Tuesday, in which the Ukrainian delegation expressed interest in creating a logistics center on the territory of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
The Ukraine side noted that the purpose of the logistics center will be to facilitate export of Ukrainian goods to Turkmenistan and other countries of the region, as well as import of Turkmen goods to Ukraine, Turkmenistan’s official media reports.
During the meeting, representatives of the Türkmendeňizderýaýollary (Turkmen Maritime and River Transport) Agency presented the capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. In the presentation, the Turkmen side expressed its readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation with the Ukrainian companies. The Agency also the briefed about the capabilities of the Balkan shipyard and plans for the development of shipbuilding until 2025, and invited the Ukrainian side to cooperate in the field of ship repair and shipbuilding.
In turn, the Director of Chernomorniiproekt state enterprise briefed about the enterprise’s work for the preparation of projects for offshore facilities and expressed interest in participating in relevant works in Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen delegation noted the compliance of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport with the requirements of the multimodal transport system and aquainted their Ukraine counterparts with the measures that are underway to digitize the port.
Türkmendeňizderýaýollary Agency transported 2.409 million tons of cargo in 2020.
