Turkmenistan Names New Co-Chairman of Its Two Intergovernmental Structures

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday signed documents on appointing Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as Co-Chairman from the Turkmen side, of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian and Turkmen-Japanese structures.

The Head of State noted that Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov heads about ten intergovernmental commissions working with various states and directions, and in this regard dismissed him from the Co-Chairman positions of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian and Turkmen-Japanese structures, the country’s official media reports.

The Turkmen President noted that this will contribute to the more concrete and effective work to further expand cooperation with Russia and Japan.

In his report, Rashid Meredov said that in January-March of this year, 461 meetings of various levels were held online. The legal base of international relations of Turkmenistan was supplemented by 31 documents signed since the beginning the year.

The 8th meeting of the High-level Group on Facilitating Trade and Investments in the framework of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, held online on March 25, considered the draft Program of Economic Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Russian Federation for 2021-2023.
