The opening ceremonies of two large facilities in Ashgabat – the Congress Center and the Reception Center – were held on Thursday with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The French company Bouygues Batiment International carried out the construction of the new buildings located along Chandybil Avenue, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, the heads of the Parliament, military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and sectoral departments, the capital's administration, public organizations, the media, and higher educational institutions. The heads of diplomatic missions and offices of international organizations in Turkmenistan also attended the opening of the new buildings.
The Congress Center covers a total area of 47,464 square meters. The building is 38.65 meters hight and 190 meters long.
The Center houses a summit hall with 500 seats, which also provides room for meetings at a table with 80 seats, a multimedia room with 403 seats, and other rooms for different kinds of events.
Following the opening ceremony, a solemn meeting of the International Conference “Global Cooperation of Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan for the sake of Peace and Trust” was held in the new Congress Center with the participation of the Head of State.
The Turkmen President then participated in the opening ceremony of new Reception Center that covers a total area of 26,854 square meters. Its main hall - the Banquet Hall – has a capacity of 1,000 seats. The Center also has rooms for meeting guests.
An official reception for the participants of international conference was held at the new Reception Center. In his speech, the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to building up friendly relations and mutually beneficial ties with all interested foreign partners.
