Putin Invites Turkmen Delegation to Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Monday. Putin noted that the Russian side would highly appreciate the participation of a high-ranking Turkmen delegation, as an honorary guest, at the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Kazan on April 29-30.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that a high-ranking delegation led by the Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan will participate in the upcoming forum, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

During the telephone conversation, the Presidents agreed that the upcoming Second Caspian Economic Forum in the summer and the Summit of the Heads of the Caspian States scheduled for autumn will serve as a good platforms for expanding friendly relations between the two countries and among the regional states.

Noting the positive nature of cooperation and mutual support in the fight against coronavirus, the Russian President expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for Turkmenistan being one of the first foreign countries to register Russian-made antiviral vaccines. Putin also expressed gratitude for Turkmenistan’s humanitarian aid to Astrakhan.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the parties noted that the upcoming meeting will open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial partnership, both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
