Turkmenistan to Hold May 9 Victory Day Commemorations
A wreath-laying ceremony will take place at Halk hakydasy Memorial Complex.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday announced that on May 9 in Turkmenistan, in honor of the Victory Day, and taking into account the traditions and customs of Turkmen people, sadaqah will be given.

On May 9, a wreath-laying ceremony in memory of compatriots who did not return from the war will take place at Halk hakydasy Memorial Complex, the country’s official media reports.

The Head of State also signed a Decree on presenting gifts on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

During the meeting, the Turkmen President additionally signed a Decree on celebration of Oraza Bayramy (Eid al-Fitr), declaring May 13 a non-working day.

Celebrations dedicated to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, widows of fallen soldiers, and workers in the rear take place in all regions of the country.
