New Azerbaijan Ferry Makes First Visit to Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi Port
The new Azerbaijan ferry is designed to transport passengers, railway wagons and road vehicles.

The new Azerbaijan ferry made its first visit to Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi International Seaport, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.

Turkmenistan’s honorary elders and youth took part in the celebrations to mark the first visit of the new ferry to the Turkmen port, according to the report.

The new modern ferry was built in 2020 at the Baku Shipyard by the order of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) Closed Joint Stock Company. The vessel is designed to transport passengers, railway wagons and road vehicles.

A 154-meter vessel with a capacity of 5,540 tons delivered modern equipment to Turkmenistan.

Sea freight traffic between the ports of Turkmenbashi in Turkmenistan and Baku in Azerbaijan saw an increase in volume in the first three months of this year. The port handled transportation of 6,605 large-capacity vehicles (TIRs) and containers in the Baku-Turkmenistan-Baku direction

During the three-month period, at the ferry terminal of the Baku port, the transshipment of wagons in the Baku-Turkmenistan-Baku direction amounted to 4,897 units.
