Turkmen Scientists Introduce New Method of Producing Activated Carbon
Activated carbon obtained from licorice waste can reportedly be widely used in medicine, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Scientists of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan have developed and proposed for implementation a new method of producing activated carbon from licorice waste, the country’s official media reported on Thursday.

The scientific development has already been patented by the State Intellectual Property Service of the Ministry of Economy and Finances of Turkmenistan.

A significant amount of production waste remains following the processing of licorice root at the Buyan Agro-Industrial Complex in the Lebap velayat. The main ways of its disposal are storage on land plots, incineration, or use as fertilizer.

Scientists of the Institute of Chemistry have proposed a technology that will make it possible to abandon the purchase of activated carbon abroad and produce it in large volumes from local raw materials.

Activated carbon obtained from licorice waste can reportedly be widely used in medicine, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.
