Turkmenistan Develops Draft Document to Ensure Rational Water Use
The draft document provides provisions on the regulation and accounting of the volume of discharged drinking water and discharged sewage water.

Turkmenistan developed a draft document aimed at reliably providing the population with clean drinking water, conserving water resources and ensuring their rational use.

Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan Shamuhammet Durduliyev, overseeing the country’s construction and industry complex, during the government meeting on Friday reported to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the state of affairs in the areas under his supervision and on the activities to develop rules for the use of drinking water supply and drainage systems in Turkmenistan.

During the online Cabinet of Ministers meeting, the Vice-Premier said the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan on Drinking Water, developed the relevant draft document with the aim of reliably providing the population with clean drinking water, conserving water resources and ensuring their rational use, the country’s official media reports.

The draft document provides provisions on the regulation and accounting of the volume of discharged drinking water and discharged sewage water, establishes the duties, rights and responsibilities of the supplier and consumer of drinking water.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of the reliable provision of the population with clean drinking water, and the conservation of water resources and their rational use.

The Head of State noted that taking into account the natural and climate conditions of the region, it is necessary to carry out measures on water conservation, to find new means for replenishing water resources and to continue active research in this direction. To this end, Turkmen President addresses a number of instructions to the Vice-Premier.
