An industrial gas flow was obtained as a result of well drilling works at Malay field in Turkmenistan’s northeastern velayat of Lebap. The daily capacity of the well is 400 thousand cubic meters of natural gas, the online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan reported on Tuesday.
The drilling operations were reportedly carried out by specialists of the Türkmengazburawlaýyş Department of Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern. The new well will help increase gas export supplies, according to the report.
For many years, this field has been efficiently producing natural gas, as well as supplying natural gas to Turkmenistan-China interstate gas pipeline.
At the beginning of the year, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during his working trip to Lebap velayat, took part in a solemn ceremony of commissioning a new gas compressor station at the Malay field. The station is capable of pumping up to 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
