The construction of new onshore facilities started at gas fields in the western section of Turkmenistan’s Bagtyyarlyk contract area. The contract area is operated by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on the basis of the Production Sharing Agreement, the online newspaper of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday with reference to the Chinese media outlets.

The contract for the provision of turnkey design and construction services for onshore gas field facilities in the western section of the Bagtyyarlyk contract area was signed with China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) in June this year.

Chen Huailong, General Director of the CNPC branch in Turkmenistan, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the first facility. The General Director of China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation (CPECC) Liu Haijun greeted via video link from Beijing the ceremony participants.

The project, with the implementation period of 24 months, includes commissioning of six fields – Gadyn, North Gadyn, Iljik, East Iljik, Kishtuvan and West Kishtuvan.

The project consists of construction of 22 wells, four gas gathering stations, pipelines, engineering and technical support networks, including electricity and water supply systems, and other industrial infrastructure. The total design output of the new facilities will be 1.815 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The implementation of the project will contribute to the long-term stable production of natural gas in the Bagtyyarlyk contract area and, accordingly, to reliable supplies of environmentally friendly fuel to the Turkmenistan-China interstate gas pipeline, according to the report.

The CPECC is a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The company is currently constructing onshore facilities at the West Joramergen, Gokmiyar and Dashrabat fields located in the eastern section of the Bagtyyarlyk contract area.
