Turkmenistan to Commission First Stage of Its Ring Power System
Türkmenenergogurluşyk (Turkmen Energy Construction) Concern implements the project to create the ring power transmission system in Turkmenistan.

Preparations are underway in Turkmenistan for the commissioning of the new Ahal-Balkan high-voltage power transmission line, the first stage of a project to create a ring power transmission system in the country.

The Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov reported on the activities in this direction to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday.

Purchekov said the domestic energy constructors carried out the laying of power lines along the Ahal-Balkan route, adding that the appropriate plan was developed to carry out the high organizational level of the new power transmission line’s commissioning, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

He briefed that the state purchased the necessary equipment, materials and vehicles for the implementation of this large-scale project.

Purchekov stated the commissioning of the new high-voltage transmission line, connecting the two velayats of the country, will increase the reliability of domestic power supply and create technical capabilities to increase the volume of electricity exports.

Following the report, the Turkmen President said the upcoming commissioning of the new high-voltage power transmission line marks the implementation of the first stage of a large-scale project, aimed at increasing electricity production and connecting the power systems of the velayats and Ashgabat into a single energy ring.

Focusing on the project, the Head of State addressed specific instructions to the Vice-Premier on strengthening control over the activities in this direction.

Türkmenenergogurluşyk (Turkmen Energy Construction) Concern implements the project to create the ring power transmission system in Turkmenistan. The completion of the project, funded by the Asian Development Bank, is scheduled for 2023.
